Welcome!

Welcome to the teen section of the Asthma And Allergy Foundation New England website! This part of our site is developed specifically for you, the teen, and is geared toward helping you understand and effectively cope with allergies and asthma. No matter what kind of activities you are involved in (sports, music, social events, or anything in life for that matter) asthma and allergies can have serious effects on your health. Adolescence is a fun, but often confusing, time for teens. With everything else going on in your life, asthma and allergies probably don't seem too important. With the numerous challenges that all young people face everyday, things like taking your medication on time and avoiding asthma triggers may not be too high on your "to do" list. However, asthma is the most common chronic illness in adolescents and should not be overlooked. By learning the basics, you will better be able to cope with and understand your asthma and allergies, which will benefit you in ALL aspects of life.

On this site, you can find a wealth of information on asthma and allergies. If general information is what you are looking for, then check out our Facts & Figures section, which will give you the inside scoop on asthma and allergy basics. If that isn't enough, then just click on the FAQ's and check out the most common questions that your friends and peers are asking. If you still can't seem to find what you are looking for or if you have a specific question, then try to let us help you out in our "Question Of The Month" section. Here, you can personalize your request, whether it is about handling your asthma in athletics or what do in an uncomfortable social situation, and we'll give you our feedback as well as let you hear from teens on the same topic.

Concerned about asthma at home or in your school? If so, you've come to the right spot! Take a look at our asthma and allergy Get Involved section where you can check and see if your home and school are "asthma friendly," and if not, what you can do to help them.

How would you like a chance at a scholarship? If that sounds appealing to you, then take a look at our Scholarship section. Here you can find out if you are eligible and download the application form if you are interested!

Finally, our Educational Materials section offers a number of items that we can make available to you. From asthma and allergy brochures to books, this is the spot where you can get what you are looking for sent right to you door (or you can print some directly from our national website, www.aafa.org)! Also, it will be worth your time to check out the number of website links that we have in this section. If you can't find what you are looking for here, or just want more information, these links can start you on the right track.
